La Bête movie storyline. We are in a near future where artificial intelligence is all-pervading and the dominant technology. People’s emotions are now perceived as threats. Gabrielle returns to her past lives in order to purify her DNA and purify herself from her emotions.
Gabrielle, who is reunited with her great love Louis, is unfortunately filled with fear each time, and the foreboding that she will face a great disaster at any moment suffocates her. “I wanted to talk about the fear of love, which is perhaps the most heartbreaking feeling,” says director Bertrand Bonello, inspired by Henry James’ novel The Beast in the Woods. Traveling from 1910 to 2044, from Paris to Los Angeles, this touching and romantic science fiction premiered in the main competition at the Venice Film Festival.
