Moana Movie Storyline. On a mystic island in Polynesia, the young princess of the tribe, Moana from Motunui Island, is a born navigator who sets sail in search of a fabled island of mysterious secrets. During her journey, she teams up with her hero and legendary demigod Maui.
Moana is an American 3D computer-animated musical fantasy comedy adventure film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios, the 56th Disney animated feature film. It is being directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, and co-directed by Don Hall and Chris Williams. The film introduces Auli’i Cravalho as Moana and features Dwayne Johnson as Maui. The film’s songs were co-written by Lin-Manuel Miranda. It is scheduled to be released by Walt Disney Pictures on November 23, 2016.

Auli’i Cravalho as Moana, the high-spirited sixteen-year-old daughter of a chief in a long line of navigators, who sets sail to an island with an almighty demigod to help save her family from annihilation. As her name means “ocean,” she has an uncanny connection with it and all its creatures.
Dwayne Johnson as Maui, the almighty legendary demigod who also sets off with Moana on her journey.
Temuera Morrison as Chief Tui, Moana’s overprotective father and chief of Motunui Island.
Nicole Scherzinger as Sina, Moana’s mother.
Rachel House as Gramma Tala, an old woman who has a close relationship with Moana and shares her passion for the ocean.
Jemaine Clement as Tamatoa, a villainous 50-foot crab from Lalotai, the realm of monsters.
Alan Tudyk as Hei Hei, Maui and Moana’s pet rooster, and described by director Ron Clements as “the dumbest character in the history of Disney animation.” Tudyk will also voice two other characters.
TBA as the Lava Witch, a character inspired by Pele, the Goddess of Fire and volcanoes in Hawaiian mythology.
Phillipa Soo as a villager of Motunui Island.
