Ava Robbins and her journey
Ava Robbins is a 24-year-old influencer who was shown moving into her new cabin home, while also detailing her journey to her fans. The film saw her befriend the locals in her new hometown, mainly Trina (who ran the town’s only bar) and Kellen, a local mechanic who ended up becoming Ava’s love interest. However, Ava would be haunted by a supernatural entity, which was believed to be a young woman named Hannah Granger, who supposedly jumped to her death.
Ava’s investigation led her to realize that Hannah was actually murdered, and she started to fear that everyone around her was trying to silence her and cover up the truth. The film’s climax saw Ava’s paranoia led her to attacking everyone with an axe, which included killing Sheriff Mason (who she thought was a random stalker), and she even cut off three of Kellen’s fingers with the weapon.
Ava reached the bridge, where she was encountered by a man who revealed himself as the father of one of Ava’s fans, Jackie. A series of flashbacks ended up revealing that the ghost was actually Jackie, and it was also uncovered while Jackie was talking to her father about Ava, she ended up being run over by Ava, who was looking at her phone while driving.
Ava got out of the car and saw what was she had done, but she also turned her attention to a deer before getting back in her car, leaving Jackie to cling to life and later succumb to her injuries. The villainess maintained her story that she had run over a deer, only for Jackie’s father to inform the deranged Ava that she killed his daughter.
Ava attempted to jump off the bridge, only for Jackie’s father to stop her from committing suicide. The psychotic villainess gave her announcement about moving into her cabin in what was revealed to be a psychiatric hospital, and in a twist, one of the doctors informed Trina that Ava had suffered from peritraumatic dissociation, revealing that everything that she had experienced in the film’s events was all in her mind to avoid her evil actions. As the doctor stated, Ava remained in her room until she could stand trial, and she continued to be haunted by Jackie’s ghost.
