Everybody Wants Some Movie Storyline. On the heels of his success with the groundbreaking drama Boyhood, director Richard Linklater shifts gears to sports for this comedy about a successful college baseball team that plays hard both on and off the diamond.
Richard Linklater’s film Everybody Wants Some, which has been billed as a “spiritual sequel” to Dazed and Confused, will premiere March 11th, 2016 as the opening night film of the 23rd South by Southwest Film Conference, The New York Times reports.
Linklater wrote and directed Everybody Wants Some, which is set in the Eighties and follows a group of college baseball players. The film boasts an ensemble cast of young performers including Blake Jenner, Ryan Guzman, Tyler Hoechlin, Wyatt Russell, Zoey Deutch, Glen Powell and Will Brittain.
While Everybody Wants Some (previously known as That’s What I’m Talking About) has long been tied to Dazed and Confused, Linklater said in an interview with Creative Screenwriting last year, that it also overlapped with his last film, Boyhood.
“It’s a party film,” Linklater said. “It’s really about the beginning of school, not the end of the school year. I guess personally or autobiographically it’s kind of in that realm, but it’s also a continuation of Boyhood, believe it or not. I don’t know if one film can be a sequel to two different movies, but it begins right where Boyhood ends with a guy showing up at college and meeting his new roommates and a girl. It overlaps with the end of Boyhood.”
Filming began on October 13, 2014 in Austin, Texas. On October 15, filming was taking place in Weimar, Texas, and lasted until December 2, 2014. Shooting locations included San Marcos, Texas, Bastrop, Texas, Elgin, Texas and San Antonio, Texas. A night shoot involving extras occurred on October 31, 2014, for a costume party scene in Taylor, Texas.
