Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard (released as The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard in Australasia) is a 2021 American action comedy film directed by Patrick Hughes and written by Tom O’Connor and Brandon and Phillip Murphy. The film is a sequel to the 2017 film The Hitman’s Bodyguard and features Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson, Salma Hayek, and Richard E. Grant reprising their roles, with Frank Grillo, Tom Hopper, Antonio Banderas, and Morgan Freeman joining the cast. In the film, suspended bodyguard Michael Bryce (Reynolds) must once again team up with hitman Darius Kincaid (Jackson) and his wife (Hayek) to stop a madman (Banderas) from launching a terror attack on Europe.

Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard was theatrically released in the United States on June 16, 2021. Lionsgate Films released the film on June 16, 2021, after being previously delayed to August 20, 2021, from an original release date of August 28, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As of August 18, 2021, Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard has grossed $38 million in the United States and Canada, and $31.5 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $69.5 million. In the United States and Canada, the film was projected to gross around $15 million from 3,331 theaters over its five-day opening weekend.

The film made $3.9 million on its first day of release, including $1.8 million from advanced screenings the weekend before and $815,000 from Tuesday night previews. It went on to gross $11.4 million in its opening weekend and $16.7 million over the five days, topping the box office. It fell 57% to $4.9 million in its second weekend, finishing in third, then $3 million in its third weekend, including $3.8 million over the four-day 4th of July frame.
