Natasha’s Dance tells the tragicomic love story of the unworldly Daantje and the Russian Natasha, a woman who is socially isolated and scarred by life. It is an impossible love between two seemingly incompatible characters coming from two completely different backgrounds. A lighthearted mosaic of events illustrates their fatal connection, their final ‘homecoming’ and the sense and senselessness of life.
Daantje is a wonderful, lonely little boy who hardly speaks or wants to go outside. His mother comforts him by telling him about a girl who is waiting for him and can dance beautifully. Years later, after father and mother died in an accident, Daantje is homeless and he meets the older lifestyle ex-ballerina Natasja. Natasja has had it with men and initially has no interest in the strange Daantje. After a fateful set of circumstances, Natasja decides to return to the place of her childhood, her grandmother’s dacha, far away from civilization. Daantje goes with her.
