Paint movie storyline. Carl Nargle, the beloved host of Vermont’s top painting show for almost thirty years, finds himself in a difficult situation when the struggling TV station decides to bring on a younger, more talented painter named Ambrosia. Not only does she take over Carl’s time slot, but she also attracts the attention of his co-workers, leaving Carl feeling insecure about his abilities and popularity.
As a result of an humiliating fund-raising drive, the station manager decides to let Carl go and arranges for him to teach painting classes at a nearby college. However, Carl’s depression and lack of motivation prevent him from being an effective teacher. Fortunately, Katherine, the true love of Carl’s life, steps in to support him.
She realizes that she has wasted too much time seeking Carl’s approval, and Carl recognizes that he has been a vain and foolish womanizer. As they confess their love for each other, Carl’s barn accidentally catches fire, leading the town to believe that he has perished.
