Set in the international world of classical music, Tár centers on Lydia Tár. widely considered one of the greatest living composer / conductors and first-ever female chief conductor of a major German orchestra.
Tar follows Blanchett’s Lydia Tár, a (fictional) renowned and groundbreaking conductor who becomes the first woman to lead a major German orchestra. “Joker” composer Hildur Guðnadóttir will score the picture, while Field is writing and producing in addition to directing. Nina Hoss, Noémie Merlant, Julian Glover, Mark Strong, Allan Corduner, Sylvia Flote, and cellist and Royal Academy of Music alum Sophie Kauer are among the announced cast.
It was announced in April 2021 that Cate Blanchett was to star in the film, which will be written and directed by Todd Field. In September, Nina Hoss and Noémie Merlant were added to the cast, with Hildur Guðnadóttir hired as the film composer. Filming began in August 2021 in Berlin.[5] In an interview given to The Guardian in October, Mark Strong revealed that he had finished filming scenes for the film.[6] In November, it was reported Sophie Kauer, Julian Glover, Allan Corduner, and Sylvia Flote had joined the cast.
Tár is an upcoming drama film written and directed by Todd Field, starring Cate Blanchett as the titular character. It was released in the United States on October 7, 2022, by Focus Features. It is also among the films in consideration to receive a world premiere at the 2022 Venice Film Festival.
