The Book of Solutions movie storyline. Marc escapes with his entire crew to a small village in the Cevennes to finish his movie with his aunt Denise. On the field, his creativity manifests itself with a million ideas that lead him into strange chaos. Marc then begins writing The Book of Solutions, a practical advice guide that may well be the solution to all his problems.
The Book of Solutions (French: Le Livre des Solutions) is a 2023 French comedy-drama film written and directed by Michel Gondry. It had its world premiere in the Directors’ Fortnight section at the 76th Cannes Film Festival on May 21, 2023. It was released in France on September 13, 2023.
Returning to the big screen after eight years, Michel Gondry draws inspiration from his own experiences and draws a funny portrait of a filmmaker in a difficult situation in his latest film, which premiered in the Directors’ Fortnight section at the Cannes Film Festival. Gondry, whose unique movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind remains in our minds, gives the role of director Marc, his bipolar and paranoid alter-ego, to Pierre Niney.
Convinced that the producers have ruined his latest project, Marc somehow smuggles out the raw footage and heads out to the country with his team to get the film the way he wants it. However, the wave of creativity turns into a destructive storm of ideas and drives everyone crazy, including himself. After the shooting of Mood Indigo, Gondry missed the recording of his own film, saying “I had a megalomaniac feeling of going into history”; The Book of Solutions is based on this series of events.
