The Exorcism movie storyline. The Exorcism follows Anthony Miller, a troubled actor who begins to unravel while shooting a supernatural horror film. His estranged daughter wonders if he’s slipping back into his past addictions or if there’s something more sinister at play.
An actor is inspecting the set of a film alone. Things happen, and he is killed. The director taps actor Anthony Miller to star as a priest in the film. Anthony’s daughter Lee is his assistant on the film. Miller’s background as a victim comes out, and he has difficulty on the set and off. The director discusses replacing him, and derides Miller’s past and faith. Lee becomes concerned about her father’s behavior, including cutting himself and refusing to take his medication.
Lee makes friends with Blake. She and Blake consult Father Conor about Miller’s behavior. Miller on-set acts if possessed. He is replaced by Joe, who was playing another character. Joe sees a phantom of Miller and is killed by glass from a mirror. Miller attacks Lee, then jumps out a window.
Father Conor decides to perform an exorcism during filming of the set. Lee finds him and Blake paralyzed in front of the now-possessed Miller, who derides Lee’s attempts to use a book. She manages to burn him with a crucifix, which snaps Conor and Blake out of paralysis. Conor gives up and offers himself to the demon and tells the girls to run. Miller is roused to stab him with the crucifix, and to use the book’s rite sincerely as Lee also joins in. Conor catches on fire and the demon is defeated.
