The Final Girls Movie Storyline. When Max (Taissa Farmiga) and her friends reluctantly attend a tribute screening of an infamous ’80s slasher film that starred Max’s late mother (Malin Akerman), they are accidentally sucked into the silver screen. They soon realize they are trapped inside the cult classic movie and must team up with the fictional and ill-fated “Camp Bloodbath” counselors, including Max’s mom as the shy scream queen, to battle the film’s machete-wielding, masked killer. With the body count rising in scene after iconic scene, who will be THE FINAL GIRLS left standing and live to escape this film?

The Final Girls is an American horror comedy film, directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson and written by M.A. Fortin and Joshua John Miller. The film stars Taissa Farmiga and Malin Åkerman in the two leading roles, with supporting performances from Adam DeVine, Thomas Middleditch, Alia Shawkat, Alexander Ludwig, Nina Dobrev, Chloe Bridges, and Angela Trimbur.

The film had its world premiere on March 13, 2015 as one of the opening night films at South by Southwest. It then screened at the Stanley Film Festival as the closing night film on May 2, 2015, where it won the Audience Award for Feature Film. The film had a gala screening at the Los Angeles Film Festival on June 16, 2015, and will screen at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival for Midnight Madness on September 19, 2015. It will then be released in the United States on October 9, 2015 in a limited release and through video on demand by Stage 6 Films and Vertical Entertainment.
