Beast tells tha story of a father and his two teenage daughters who find themselves hunted by a massive rogue lion intent on proving that the savannah has but one apex predator. A recently widowed husband returns to South Africa, where he first met his wife, on a long-planned trip with his two teenage daughters to a game reserve managed by an old family friend and fellow wildlife biologist. Soon, however, a ferocious, man-hunting lion begins attacking them and devouring anyone in its path. Their journey of healing turns into a fight where their resilience will be tested.

But what begins as a journey of healing jolts into a fearsome fight for survival when a lion, a survivor of blood-thirsty poachers who now sees all humans as the enemy, begins stalking them. Iyana Halley plays Daniels’ 18-year-old daughter, Meredith, and Leah Sava Jeffries (Rel series, Empire series) plays his 13-year-old, Norah.

In September 2020, it was announced that Idris Elba would star in a new Universal Pictures film titled Beast, based on an original idea by Jaime Primak-Sullivan and directed by Baltasar Kormákur. In June 2021, Sharlto Copley, Iyana Halley and Leah Sava Jeffries joined the cast. Filming commenced on June 1, 2021, in South Africa and lasted for ten weeks. Shooting also occurred in the rural provinces of Limpopo and Northern Cape as well as in Cape Town.
