Sam and Kate movie storyline. A life-affirming family dramedy that takes place in a small town in the heart of the country. Dustin Hoffman plays Bill, a larger-than-life father to Sam (Jake Hoffman) who has returned home to take care of Bill, whose health is failing. While he’s there, Sam falls for local woman Kate (Fisk); at the same time, Bill starts to fall for Kate’s mom Tina (Spacek). The course of true love never runs smooth, and these four will be forced to confront their pasts while trying to make new love work in their lives.
Sam and Kate is a 2022 American comedy film written and directed by Darren Le Gallo, and starring Dustin Hoffman, Sissy Spacek, Jake Hoffman and Schuyler Fisk. It is Le Gallo’s feature directorial debut, and his wife Amy Adams served as an executive producer. Hoffman’s real son and Spacek’s real daughter play these roles in the film.
Filming began in Thomasville, Georgia, in February 2022. In April 2022, it was announced that filming wrapped. In September 2022, it was announced that Vertical Entertainment acquired North American and UK/Ireland distribution rights to the film, which was released on November 11, 2022. The film also premiered at the Austin Film Festival.
