A remake of the fantastic original film adaptation of the novel “A Man Called Ove” by Fredrik Backman (2015 Swedish film “A Man Called Ove” directed by Hannes Holm). Ove is a curmudgeon-the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him ‘the bitter neighbor from hell.’

When his wife dies and he is forced to retire from his job of nearly 40 years, grumpy 60-year-old Otto decides to kill himself. But his attempts are constantly interrupted by his boisterous new neighbors, which leads to an unlikely friendship.

A Man Called Otto is an American comedy-drama film directed by Marc Forster from a screenplay by David Magee. It is the second film adaptation of the 2012 novel A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman, following the 2015 Swedish film of the same name written and directed by Hannes Holm.

The film stars Tom Hanks in the titular role, with Mariana Treviño, Manuel García-Rulfo, Rachel Keller, Cameron Britton, Mike Birbiglia, Kelly Lamor Wilson, Josefine Lindegaard, Elle Chapman, Juanita Jennings co-starring. A Man Called Otto wüb for a limited theatrical release in the United States on December 25, 2022, before a wide release on January 13, 2023, by Sony Pictures Releasing.
