Knives Out Movie Storyline. Directed by Rian Johnson, Knives Out is the story of a detective trying to uncover the secret behind the death of a famous writer. Harlan Thrombey, a famous crime novelist, is found dead in his home on his 85th birthday. A curious investigative detective, Benoit Blanc begins to take part in the murder investigation in secret. Harlan Thrombey’s family is called for an investigation, but the family is literally useless. Blanc embarks on a formidable struggle to underscore what is visible on this surface and uncover all the lies and find the truth behind Thrombey’s death. As the detective advances his research, many hidden truths emerge.

Knives Out is a 2019 American black comedy mystery film written, produced and directed by Rian Johnson. Described as a modern take on the murder mystery genre, the film follows a family gathering gone horribly awry, after the family patriarch’s death leads a master detective to investigate. The film stars an ensemble cast, including Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, Toni Collette, Lakeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford, Jaeden Martell, and Christopher Plummer.

The film had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, 2019 and is scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States on November 27, 2019, by Lionsgate Films.
