Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Movie Storyline. After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is ready for more freedom, and Tom and Maddie agree to leave him home while they go on vacation. But, no sooner are they gone, when Dr. Robotnik comes back, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search for an emerald that has the power to both build and destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands. Being directed by Jeff Fowler, and starring Jim Carrey, James Marsden, and Ben Schwartz.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is an upcoming action-adventure comedy film directed by Jeff Fowler and written by Pat Casey, Josh Miller, and John Whittington, based on the video game franchise published by Sega. The sequel to Sonic the Hedgehog (2020), it stars Ben Schwartz returning as the voice of Sonic, with the rest of the cast consisting of James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Adam Pally, Shemar Moore, Idris Elba, and Jim Carrey. The film follows Sonic and Tails (voiced by Colleen O’Shaughnessey) as they try to prevent Doctor Eggman (Carrey) and Knuckles the Echidna (voiced by Elba) from finding the Master Emerald.

Following the success of the first film, and with plans for a series, Paramount Pictures announced the sequel in May 2020. Filming took place from March to June 2021 in Vancouver and Hawaii. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 wes released theatrical in the United States on April 8, 2022, by Paramount Pictures in association with Sega Sammy Group. In February 2022, Paramount confirmed that a third film and a spin-off series focusing on Knuckles were in development.
