Adrift Movie Storyline. Adrift is an upcoming American romance drama film directed by Baltasar Kormákur and written by Aaron & Jordan Kandell, and David Branson Smith. The film stars Shailene Woodley and Sam Claflin. Adrift is scheduled to be released on June 1, 2018 by STXfilms. Principal photography on the film was done in July 2017 in Fiji.
Adrift was acquired by STX Entertainment in February 2017 to produce and distribute the film, which would stars Shailene Woodley as Tami Oldham and would be directed by Baltasar Kormákur from a script by Aaron & Jordan Kandell, and they would also produce the film, along with Kormákur through his RVK Studios. In April 2017, Miles Teller entered into negotiations to costar opposite Woodley, whom he had collaborated with four times prior. However, in May 2017, Sam Claflin joined the film to replace Teller, who had to pass on the role due to “scheduling conflicts”
