Captain Fantastic Movie Storyline. Captain Fantastic is a drama film written and directed by Matt Ross and starring Viggo Mortensen as a man who attempts to reintegrate into society after living in isolation for a decade. The film had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 23, 2016. It has been selected to be screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. It is scheduled to be released on July 8, 2016, by Bleecker Street.
