On April 20th, 2010, one of the world’s largest man-made disasters occurred on the Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico. Directed by Peter Berg (Lone Survivor), this story honors the brave men and women whose heroism would save many on board, and change everyone’s lives forever.

Deepwater Horizon tells of Deepwater Horizon, the infamous British Petroleum oil rig that caught fire and exploded on April 20, 2010, while drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, killing 11 crewmembers and resulting in the largest offshore oil spill in United States history. Mark Wahlberg is starring as an electrician on the rig. John Malkovich plays a stubborn BP representative who underestimates the danger of the work being done.

The film stars Mark Wahlberg, Kurt Russell, John Malkovich, Gina Rodriguez, Dylan O’Brien and Kate Hudson. It is based on the 2010 Deepwater Horizon explosion and oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Principal photography began on April 27, 2015 in New Orleans, Louisiana. It is expected to release on September 30, 2016.
